~ Local 4045 President Jarrod Pitts has been proudly affiliated with the Northern Lakes Professional Firefighters and the Northern Lakes Fire Protection District since July 23, 2012. Jarrod began his career at Spokane Community College, attending the Fire Science Program, graduating in 2009. He also began volunteering at Spokane County Fire District 4, where he eventually was hired as a part-time firefighter. He left District 4 and moved to Spokane County Fire District 8 as a part-time firefighter, investing time with that organization while he was on their career staff hiring eligibility list. His move to Northern Lakes was a little over a year after that, following 35 hiring tests in 7 different states. He happily now makes his home in North Idaho, by way of next door Spokane Valley, WA. President Pitts has previously served as Local 4045 Recording Secretary and has helped supervise several committees and projects for the Union and the Fire District. He is blessed to be married to his beautiful wife, Kristin, who is a native to North Idaho. He enjoys traveling, music, performance arts and sporting events.

My name is Amanda Tams.  I have been with Northern Lakes FD for 10 years.  I grew up in St. Maries which is about an hour south of here.  My parents owned 38 acres just outside of St. Maries so I grew up riding four wheelers and horses.  I have an older brother and one of the games we use to play was to drive four wheelers and see who could spin the most mud on each other.  I went to college at Idaho State University to get a nursing certification, however I changed my mind and received a Bachelor’s in Biology, teaching certification, and an athletic trainers certification. During my time in college, I spent the summer working for the forest service on a 20 hand crew in Island Park.  I spent 10 summers working on the fire crew.  While in college and for a few years after college I enjoyed playing rugby, mountain biking and cross country skiing.  I spent two years in the Salt Lake City area teaching high school and middle school science.  When I was about 32, I decided I should grow up and get a real job with health insurance and retirement.  I tried to think of a job that I would like to do if money was not an option. I settled on trying fire fighting and fell in love with the job.  I now own a house in Rathdrum, with my aussie doodle Sidney.  My parents still live in St. Maries.  I no longer play rugby but I still enjoy cross country skiing.  My grandparents bought property on CDA lake in the 60’s and had been handed down through the family.  I enjoy spending summers at the lake cabin, where I swim and fish.
